BIOSECURE Cord Blood
Cord blood bank process management: collection and transport, the processing window, maternal and unit testing, cryopreservation, tank mapping, quarantine and release, with long-term electronic retention.
AvailableA cord blood unit is collected in minutes and stored for decades. That gap is the bank's central operational risk: information missing at collection cannot be recovered years later when the unit is selected for a patient.
Process and records
| Step | Captured |
|---|---|
| Collection | Maternal identity and consent, delivery details, time and place, collector, bag lot, volume |
| Transport | Container, temperature record, receiving staff, elapsed time |
| Processing | Start and end time, device, operator, TNC and CD34+ counts before and after, recovery |
| Testing | Maternal infectious disease screening, ABO/Rh, cultures, high resolution HLA typing |
| Cryopreservation | Freezing curve, device, cassette, cryoprotectant lot |
| Storage | Tank, rack and cassette address; temperature history; archive samples |
| Release | Confirmatory testing, thaw and transport conditions, delivery record |
The processing window is tracked, not remembered
Time limits between collection and processing are counted down in the system. Exceeding a limit opens a deviation record rather than passing unnoticed.
One donation, many samples
The unit, the maternal sample and the archive samples are linked under one donation number with ISBT 128 compatible labeling, so a single labeling error cannot break the chain. Labels are printed from the system and verified by scanning.
Identity separation and retention
Donor identity and HLA data are held separately under coded identifiers with role-based access. The record structure is built for retention measured in decades, including the ability to read archived data after system changes.
Storage infrastructure
Oxygen and temperature monitoring, alarm escalation and nitrogen leak warning in the storage area are provided by GE-100 and GE-MON; generator and uninterruptible power supply status are taken from dry contacts into the same alarm chain.
